Project Description

The $2.8B Regional Rail Project is being delivered via a PPP (Design, Build, Finance and Maintain), and includes a new regional passenger rail fleet to replace the existing Express Passenger Train (XPT), XPLORER and Endeavour diesel fleets, which provide country, regional and some intercity services across regional New South Wales, and the procurement of a regional maintenance facility in Dubbo.
Regional Rail Project PPP

Transport for NSW awarded the PPP contract to Momentum Trains consortium in February 2019.
Momentum Trains will finance the project, design and build and maintain the new fleet as well as design, build, maintain and operate the Mindyarra Maintenance Centre at Dubbo.

The new Regional Rail fleet includes 29 new trains, and 117 new carriages, and includes ongoing maintenance of the new fleet as well as the procurement of a regional maintenance facility in Dubbo.

Some existing rail infrastructure will need to be modified at various locations across the rail network.

Our Involvement

Aside from managing the interdependencies of existing and new infrastructure, ProSquared is managing and leading the Project Controls team to deliver core project management functions, including Cost Management, Risk Management, Schedule Management, Document Management, Governance, Status and Performance Reporting, and Change Control.

NSW TrainLink will operate the new Regional Rail fleet – therefore the Project Controls and reporting is essential for the coordination of the highly meshed rail network works in terms of timing and budget control.
